In Space Childcare® & Future Aquatic Programming

Where Early Learning Meets Water Confidence

In Space Childcare® is thoughtfully designed as a multi-experience environment that supports whole-child development. As part of our long-term vision, select In Space locations are planned to include on-site aquatic facilities operated by an independent swim instruction provider.

This future pool subtenant will complement our childcare and out-of-school programming by offering families convenient access to professional, safety-first swim education—delivered by certified aquatic specialists—within the same trusted campus.

Co-located at 3255 Stephenson Point Road, the In Space Childcare® (Nanaimo) Galactic 2 location is purpose-built to support this integrated, next-generation family experience.

What On-Site Aquatics Will Enable

After-School Swim Access

Families enrolled at In Space will have the option to register separately for on-site swim lessons operated by the aquatic subtenant, making water safety a natural extension of the after-school routine.

Camps with Water Exploration

Future seasonal and summer camps may include coordinated access to daily water activities, subject to program availability and separate registration with the aquatic provider.

Confidence In & Out of the Pool

Swimming is a foundational life skill. On-site aquatic programming supports physical coordination, water safety awareness, and confidence—reinforcing the same growth mindset we cultivate in our learning spaces.

Designed for Family Convenience

With shared location, aligned schedules, and clear handoff between programs, families benefit from a streamlined experience without compromising choice or flexibility.

Our Approach to Aquatic Providers

Any future swim operator selected as a pool subtenant will be aligned with In Space Childcare®’s standards for:

  • Safety and regulatory excellence

  • Certified, experienced instructors

  • Child-first teaching philosophy

  • Professional operations and communication

This model allows In Space to remain focused on exceptional childcare delivery, while trusted specialists independently deliver aquatic instruction.

Future Outlook

Target Availability: 2026 (subject to construction, permitting, and tenant agreements)
Family Information Sessions: To be announced
Separate Registration: Required through the aquatic provider

At In Space Childcare®, we believe environments matter. By designing locations that can host complementary services like aquatic instruction, we’re building campuses that support children not just for today—but for the skills they’ll carry for life.

The future of care is integrated, intentional, and built to grow.

In Space Childcare ® & Division of Family Practice Nanaimo

Supporting Families, Together

At In Space Childcare®, we are committed to supporting the whole family—offering safe, nurturing, and imaginative early learning environments designed to help children thrive.

We are proud to collaborate with the Division of Family Practice Nanaimo, an organization supporting local family physicians, locums, emergency physicians, hospitalists, primary care residents, and nurse practitioners who arededicated to improving access to care and services for families in our community.

How the Partnership Works

This partnership is rooted in a shared goal: helping families access high-quality support, right when they need it most. Our community is working hard to obtain family physicians from all over the world. Helping them secure childcare can contribute to a higher number of physicians moving to and working in Nanaimo.

When physicians require childcare—The Nanaimo Division of Family Practice can refer them to In Space Childcare. When we have openings available, we make every effort to connect those families with a spot in one of our programs, whether it’s full-time daycare, school age, or our seasonal camps.

It’s a simple but powerful model:

  • Doctors identify a need

  • We respond with care

This system streamlines the process for families and ensures they are connected with licensed, trusted care in a timely manner—removing the stress of searching.

Why It Matters

Families navigating healthcare needs, transitions, or periods of uncertainty often require flexible and responsive childcare solutions. Our collaboration with the Division of Family Practice Nanaimo helps bridge that gap—offering families a reliable pathway to care.

Together, we’re:

  • Easing access to quality childcare for physician families in Nanaimo

  • Supporting a smoother transition for physician families new to Nanaimo who  require childcare

  • Increasing the number of family physicians coming to Nanaimo by securing childcare spaces

  • Strengthening the link between health, wellness, and early development

A Shared Commitment to Community

In Space Childcare is honoured to operate on the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw People, and we value every opportunity to serve the growing, diverse families of Nanaimo. By working alongside Division of Family Practice Nanaimo, were continuing to build a future where care is collaborative—and where every child has the opportunity to shine.

In Space Childcare ® & Loaves & Fishes Community Food Bank

Nourishing Community Together

A Partnership Rooted in Care

At In Space Childcare®, we believe true wellness involves more than just early learning — it also means ensuring children, families, and communities have access to basic needs. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Loaves & Fishes / VI Food Bank, the Vancouver Island food security network serving more than 15,000 people across over 44 communities free of charge. (vifoodbank.org)

How Our Collaboration Works

At some of our In Space Childcare sites, you’ll find a green Loaves & Fishes bin — a simple yet powerful way to make a difference. Families and community members can drop off their empty bottles and cans, which are collected and redeemed to support local food distribution.

Every $1 in refundable bottles equals roughly $5 worth of food for families in need — turning everyday recyclables into nourishment and hope for our community.

Through this ongoing initiative, In Space helps bridge the gap between early learning and community impact, empowering families to participate in giving back in a hands-on, meaningful way.

Why This Matters

  • Holistic support: We see children as part of families and communities. Addressing food security strengthens the foundation on which learning, growth, and health flourish.

  • Community cohesion: Our partnership reinforces that In Space is more than a childcare provider — we’re an active participant in building a caring, interconnected Nanaimo.

  • Model of values: Embedding charitable engagement into our operations empowers children from a young age to develop empathy, responsibility, and social awareness.

Impact & Outcomes

  • Ongoing bottle-collection program supporting Loaves & Fishes

  • Hundreds of dollars in food value generated for local families

  • A visible, everyday reminder that small actions can create big change

A Message From Us
